“Collect things that you love, that are authentic to you, and your home becomes your story.”

First of all, there’s no denying it: we live in a world where gratification is pretty much immediate.

The Internet is crazy. Everything is out there. When you feel like a change, you can re-decorate your home from seventies-shag-carpet-chic to ultra-modern-sleek with barely the click of a mouse.

If everything is so conveniently accessible, what is the benefit to taking a little (or lots of) time to decorate our living spaces?

“Collect things that you love, that are authentic to you, and your home becomes your story.”

At the Argosy, Richard and I consciously curate every single piece of vintage or antique furniture that we bring into the store. The same goes for the smaller items, housewares, collectibles, and the like.

It takes a little longer to find the kind of things we want in the store, sometimes, but that’s OK. It means the only things we have in the store are things that we want in the store.

Take your time. Decorate slowly.

Consider doing the same for your home. You’ll find that you cut down on your clutter, and the pieces that you do have will absolutely mean something to you, as well as to the people around you. Authentic representation of our true selves can happen

As a result of purchasing timeless secondhand pieces you cut down on garbage and your carbon footprint is diminished.

It’s a win-win for you, your stylish abode, and the planet.
